Road Closures Come To Fredericksburg Sunday For Marine Corps Races

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Marine Corps Marathon Organization's Historic Half Events are returning in-person in Fredericksburg on Sunday. Fredericksburg residents can expect widespread road closures from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Race organizers expect more than 6,000 runners to participate in Sunday's events, which include the Marine Corps Historic Half (13.1 miles), Semper 5ive (5 miles) or Devil Dog Double (18.1 miles).

Participants and spectators in Sunday's races can park at the Central Park Shopping Complex and walk to the Historic Half start line on Carl D. Silver Parkway near the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center.

Semper 5ive participants will be shuttled to the start line at James Monroe High School. The shuttle will pick up runners on Hospitality Lane, near the Homewood Suites. The first bus will depart at 5:00 a.m., with the last one leaving at 6:15 a.m.

Organizers are advising runners to be weary of high temperatures on Sunday. Hydration packs will be allowed at the race, though bags and backpacks are subject to search.

The race's water points will have flags to advise runners of current conditions.
