Shooting Victims to be Remembered in Services in Culpeper Wednesday

Two events held by area churches to bring community together after apparent murder-suicide.

Churches in the Culpeper area are planning vigils following the apparent murder-suicide of a family of five Sunday night.

Saint Stevens Baptist Church in Stevensburg is hosting a community-wide prayer service Wednesday night at 7 p.m., according to the church’s Facebook page.

Another vigil is planned for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Culpeper courthouse, according to NBC 29. The courthouse is located at 135 West Cameron St.

The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office believes that Clarence Washington, 35, shot and killed his family before shooting himself, according to WJLA. The victims were identified as wife, Shauna Washington, 35, and their daughters Omesha, 13, Onya, 6, and Olivia, 4.
