SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA — Two people were injured over the weekend when the plane they were riding in crashed near Lake Anna in Spotsylvania County. The crash happened Saturday around 4:30 p.m., according to Virginia State Police.

The single-engine Cessna seaplane operated by John J. Grieff, 64, of Brooksville, Fla., was attempting to land on the water when the plane contacted the surface and the floats caused the plane to go back up in the air. As the plane returned to the water, it crashed into an embankment near the shoreline at 3318 Fisherman’s Way, police said.

Grieff was taken to Mary Washington Hospital with minor injuries. An adult passenger also suffered minor injuries. No one on the ground was hurt, police said.
