Stafford County Teacher Nominated For National LifeChanger Award
A 12th grade teacher at North Stafford High School was nominated for the 2019-20 National LifeChanger of the Year award.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A 12th grade teacher at North Stafford High School is in the running for a national award after being nominated for the award by a student who lauded her for her “mentorship and guidance.” Kelly O’Connor, who teaches English at the high school, is among hundreds of nominees across the county, 17 of whom will eventually be honored with the award.
O’Connor was nominated by Jeffrey Truong, who said O’Connor went “above and beyond” when he applied for college, assisting him by reviewing his essays, writing recommendations for scholarship applications and offering invaluable advice, according to an announcement posted on the district website.
According to the nomination, O’Connor supports many of her students through their transitions after high school by “providing an environment that not only addresses their fears and confusion, but inspires them to pursue their passions.”
