Stafford, Fredericksburg Schools Make Weather Decision For Tuesday, Jan. 4
Schools in Stafford County and Fredericksburg are changing their opening plans for Tuesday, Jan. 4 due to effects from the snowstorm.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 4 in Stafford County and the City of Fredericksburg, school officials announced. Students in the area get to enjoy their winter break for a little bit longer.
In Stafford, Tuesday will be a Code 1, meaning that no teachers or staff members will have to report to work or participate in telework. In Fredericksburg, the school system will observe a similar plan under their Code Red.
Monday's winter storm dumped several inches of snow throughout the region. The National Weather Service, which issued a winter storm warning for the region, estimated that areas received between 5 and 10 inches of snow.

The storm disrupted traffic and power in the area. Thousands of residents in Stafford County were left without power, while hundreds of motorists were stranded on roadways. Virginia State Police said they responded to more than 500 accidents before 12 p.m. on Monday.
