Update: Power Outages Affect 38,000 In Stafford County On Tuesday

38,000 electric customers are still without power on Tuesday morning in Stafford County, according to several electric companies.

NOVEC and Dominion Power are reporting that thousands of customers have lost power since snow began to fall on Monday morning. The power companies are currently working to dispatch crews to the sites of the outages.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Thousands of people in Stafford County were without power as a winter storm dumped snow on the region. Around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, NOVEC and Dominion Power estimated that more than 35,000 people were affected by outages.

Dominion estimated that 34,000 of its 53,310 customers in Stafford County were without power on Tuesday. Meanwhile, NOVEC reported that 60 percent of its Stafford customers were suffering from an outage.

Dominion's crews were working on 150 different projects in Stafford County on Monday morning. Though many of the outages were still pending investigations, most of the impacts were caused by the storm, according to Dominion's outage map.

On Monday morning, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office urged residents to stay off roadways if at all possible. "There are currently 20 reports of disabled vehicles, three trees down across the road, and one accident in the county," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook around 10 a.m. "Additionally, the power lines are down in the 300 block of White Oak Road."
