Stafford High School On Partial Lockdown After Nearby Assault: Police

Stafford High School was put on a partial lockdown on Friday morning as police searched for an assault suspect in the area, officials said.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — Stafford High School was placed on a partial lockdown around 10:30 a.m. on Friday. The Stafford County Sheriff's Office said deputies were looking for an assault suspect in the area.

One person was assaulted on Friday morning, but police did not disclose their identity or condition. The sheriff's office said the assault occurred on Enon Road.

Authorities did not identify the suspect by name, but they said he is a Black man with locks wearing red shorts and a black shirt. He is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs around 270 pounds.

Police said the man was last seen in the wooded area near Chichester Park. Deputies and a police K-9 are in the area and searching for the man.

Authorities said the school was placed on a partial lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
