Utility Workers Threatened At Gunpoint While Clearing Power Lines In Stafford: Police

A man from Stafford County was arrested on Friday after police said he pointed a gun at utility workers who were removing downed trees.

STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A man from Stafford threatened utility workers with pistol on Friday afternoon, according to a report from the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. The man, who police identified as Mohammed Sultany, was charged with four counts of brandishing a firearm.

"Seeing a utility truck on your street this week in Stafford was like Christmas for The Whos of Whoville in Dr. Seuss books, a cause for great celebration or Whobilation," the Stafford County Sheriff's Office wrote on their Facebook page. "While most residents anxiously awaited the arrival of the power company to restore electricity, one resident had quite a different reaction."

Around 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, three utility workers were clearing downed trees from power lines in the area near Pine View Drive in Stafford County. Another man, a resident who lived in the area, was also in the wood line with the workers, near the intersection of two property lines.
