Summer Jobs: City To Fill Positions for Pool, Two Camps for Kids

The City of Fredericksburg’s Department of Parks, Recreation & Public Facilities is accepting applications for summer jobs at the Dixon Pool and for Summer Camp instructors and aides.

Applications are available on the city’s website at www.fredericksburgva.gov. While all positions are open until filled, completed applications and resumes should be submitted before the close of business on Tuesday, March 31.

Dixon Pool Summer Jobs: Pool opens Memorial Day weekend and closes on Labor Day. Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age. ALL selected applicants are required to attend three-day training from May 20-22. Criminal background and driving record checks are required.

• Lifeguard - $8.33 - $11.37/per hr – Must have current lifeguard certification at the time of interview.
• Pool Operator/Head Lifeguard - $10.08 – $12.09/per hr – Must have a current pool operator license and at least three years of lifeguard experience.
• Gate Worker - $8.03 – $9.67 per/hr – Must be a minimum of 16 years of age with some computer experience or training.
• Water Safety Instructor - $12.09-$14.11/per hr – Must be a certified WSI. Lessons available during the summer months.

Summer Camp Instructors and Aides will be needed during the entire camp schedule. Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age for Aide vacancies and minimum of 18 years of age for Instructor vacancies. ALL selected applicants are required to attend a Instructor Meeting that will be scheduled prior to the corresponding camp. Criminal background check is required.

Up with the Arts – June 16-27
Camp is designed for children ages Kindergarten through 6th grade and is held at Alum Spring Park. Program is aimed at introducing students to the performing arts and theater presentation.

• Instructor (minimum age 18) $500 for the two weeks
  
• Camp Aides (minimum age 16) $250 for the two weeks

Summer Fun Festival – July 7-18
Camp is for ages 4 years old up to 4th grade at Hugh Mercer Elementary School. Instructors are responsible for developing and implementing lesson plans for the students. Aides will assist Instructors as needed.

• Instructor (minimum age 18) $500 for the two weeks*
• Camp Aides (minimum age 16) $250 for the two weeks

*Certified teachers will receive an additional $40 for the two weeks.
