Teacher Accused of Sex With Students Stays in Jail

Erica Lynne Mesa decided not to request bail, according to report.

A Stafford County high school teacher accused of having sex with several students has decided to stay in jail, with her next hearing Nov. 5, according to a report at Fredericksburg.com.

Erica Lynne Mesa, 27, of the 400 block of Batley Ct., Fredericksburg, is charged with 3 counts of custodian indecent liberties and 3 counts of solicitation of a minor using a computer device.

Minutes before a bond hearing Thursday, defense attorney Mark Gardner informed the judge that Mesa had decided not to request bond, according to Fredericskburg.com.

Detectives worked with school administrators at Colonial Forge High School late last month after allegations surfaced that Mesa had a sexual relationship with a student.

She was arrested Sept. 29. Investigators say Mesa admitted to police that she had sexual relations with at least four students.

Additional charges are possible as the investigation continues, Kennedy noted in the release.
