Teenager to be Charged in Massaponax High School Bomb Threat

A 17-year-old Massaponax High School student was taken into custody and will be charged with making a bomb threat, said Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office Lt. Troy Skebo.

The school system sent out a message several hours later stating that a student received the threat in a text message from someone who was not on the school grounds.

"The school was placed on immediate lock down," Skebo said. "Following an inspection of the grounds, deputies escorted the students to a safe area on school property so that the building could be searched. Several bomb sniffing dogs responded from Spotsylvania, Stafford, Fauquier and Dulles Airport to assist with searching the school."

Skebo said no bomb was found in the search of the school and grounds. Today was the first day of school for Spotsylvania County students.

"The Sheriff's Office would like to thank the outside law enforcement agencies and school and division administration for their assistance," Skebo said.
