Thanksgiving: A celebration everyday

"One who is not grateful to others is not grateful to God."

Thanksgiving is celebrated around the country in a traditional way by getting together, having parties, and inviting friends and families. However, Islam advocates a unique view about “Thanksgiving”. Every day of our lives is to be spent by thanking God for everything, paying gratitude to our fellow humans and being grateful to our parents for every single moment.
In the Holy Qur’an, God, whose one of the attributes is “Al Wahhab (The Bestower)” emphasizes that “If you are grateful, I will, surely, bestow more favors on you” (14:8). This verse emphasizes how necessary it is to be thankful to God who promises to bless us abundantly if we are grateful for what we have been blessed with.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “One who is not grateful to others is not grateful to God.” This saying of the Prophet Muhammad explains how important it is to be thankful to our fellow beings disregarding any so-called differences of race, religion, or of color, in order to pay gratitude to God.
Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Mirza Masroor Ahmad made it clear when he said that, “True gratefulness develops when one has “Taqwa” (fear of God), an understanding of our object of creation and makes an effort to attain it.” This clarifies that one must understand the purpose of one's life and ensure appreciation for all the blessings showered on him/her by God, and for all the generosity received from people around. Gratitude is indeed a source of peace, love, and satisfaction which brightens many lives.
