Threat Led To Police Response, Evacuation At James Monroe High School On Wednesday: Police
Police officers were called to James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg on Wednesday for a written threat, the police department said.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A threat elicited a police response at James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg on Wednesday afternoon, the police department said.
The school was evacuated as authorities investigated the threat. Ultimately, police personnel said the threat was not credible.
"FCPS and law enforcement teams jointly assessed the situation and determined it was not a credible threat; however, the matter was treated seriously. Division leadership and local law enforcement to include Sheriff, police, and State police were on the scene," the school system said in a message to families. "We relied on our law enforcement partners to make the right calls, and the building was deemed safe to re-enter."

The school system said it was not able to provide more information about what the threat said.
"Due to an ongoing investigation, we cannot share more details about the nature of the threat or where it was written," the school system said. "We can confirm that all students and staff are safe."

Law enforcement was called to the school around 2 p.m. on Wednesday. At 4:15 p.m., the police department said it had left the facility.
"As always, thank you for your continued support, cooperation, and collaboration, as we work together for health, safety, and instructional needs," the school system said.
