Viewfinder: The Opening of Carl's Ice Cream

Carl's Ice Cream opened to long lines and warm weather as Fredericksburg residents qued up for a frosty treat. 

"We bring the spring," joked Ramona Settle, one of the co-owners of the historic ice cream stand. She was hurridley dashing about the front of the shop preparing malts, and cones for a line of customers which at times wrapped around the block. Carls has been a Fredericksburg institution since 1947, and is included on the National Register of Historic Places.
