Warm Weather Stays as New School Year Begins: NWS Forecasts
Check out this week's Fredericksburg forecast from the National Weather Service as a new school year begins and summer turns to fall.

With Labor Day now officially behind us, most consider this week the first unofficial week of the fall.
However, the weather must have missed the memo.
According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures will soar into the 90s each of the next two days, and summer thunderstorms will pass through Northern Virginia on Wednesday and Thursday.

Temperatures will drop into the low-80s by the end of the week, and are expected to continue to drop through the weekend and into next week.

Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
Thursday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 84.
