Fox Barks Up A Storm After Cat Scurries Under Truck
Video as seen on Neighbors app shows a fox barking at a cat who scurried under a truck at a home in Richmond.

RICHMOND, VA — A red fox made its weekly appearance at a Richmond house in late December, according to the homeowners. This time, the fox was eyeing a cat that it had chased under a pickup truck.
Standing about 12 feet from the truck, the fox barks loudly at the cat several times, according to a Neighbors by Ring camera that caught the cat scurrying under the pickup followed by the fox coming to a screeching halt before beginning a staredown with the cat.
"We see this [fox] about once a week and has caused no harm," the homeowners said in their description of the video, which was made available on Jan. 19. "Here you'll see it literally barking at a cat to move on. Make sure you have the volume up to hear it."

After about the sixth bark, the fox heads to the other side of the house and then lets off another loud bark.
Fox sightings are common in many parts of Virginia. They might chase cats but are unlikely to engage in a fight out of fear of injury from the cat's claws and teeth.

Foxes are not dangerous to humans, except when they are rabid, which is very rare, or when they are captured and handled, according to the Humane Society. A fox's natural tendency is to flee rather than fight. However, foxes may prey on small pets or livestock such as rabbits, guinea pigs or chickens, so small pets should be kept indoors or housed in sturdy structures.
