What's Open, Closed On Presidents Day In Fredericksburg 2022

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Presidents Day is coming to the Fredericksburg region on Monday, Feb. 21. The holiday, which is also known as a celebration of George Washington's birthday, is observed on the third Monday of February each year.

Across the country, government facilities close in observance of the holiday. Meanwhile, most restaurants and retailers remain open, with many offering special deals or extended hours.

The holiday began decades ago to codify the celebration of Washington's birthday on a Monday each year. It does not officially include Abraham Lincoln's birthday, which is celebrated by some states on Feb. 12.

Here is a list of the openings, closings, and schedule changes to know in the Fredericksburg area for Presidents Day in 2022:

• Fredericksburg Government Offices: Closed on Feb. 15.
• Spotsylvania County Government Offices: All county offices and facilities are closed on Feb. 15, except for Livingston landfill & convenience center, county museum & visitor's center, which are all open regular hours.
• Stafford County Government Offices: Closed on Feb. 21.
• Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on Feb. 21.
• Fredericksburg Public Schools: Closed on Feb. 21.
• Spotsylvania County Public Schools: Closed on Feb. 21.
• Stafford County Public Schools: Closed on Feb. 21.
• Fredericksburg Trash & Recycling: Regular service on Feb. 21.
• Central Rappahannock Regional Library: All branches will be closed on Feb. 21, including curb-side pickup.
• Post Offices: Closed Feb. 21.
• FRED Transit: Regular schedule on Feb. 21.
• VRE: Closed on Feb. 21.
