'Winter Carnival' Saturday in Spotsylvania

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA — Here's a way to welcome back and even embrace winter following a few days of unseasonably warm temperatures that were a mild shock to the system.

It's the Winter Carnival in the Gym, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at the Wilderness Presidential Resort, 9220 Plank Road.

Geared toward kids, it'll feature winter-themed games and activities that include face painting, balloon animals and winter tie-dye t-shirt creations.

It's open to the public, with tickets going for $8 ($5 for members).

Too, the fun will continue after the initial two-hour event with a puppet show, an indoor snowball fight, scooter hockey, candy bar bingo, knockout basketball, card games and a movie.
