Woman Dies After Being Struck By Car In Parking Lot: Police
A woman died on Friday in Stafford after a car backed into her and pinned her against another vehicle, authorities said.
STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A 66-year-old woman died on Friday in Stafford County after she was hit by a car in a parking lot, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities identified the woman as Hazel Cobb of Spotsylvania.
In an update posted to Facebook, the sheriff's office said they were called to the beauty salon at 4 Harrell Road around 11 a.m. on Friday morning.
"The initial investigation revealed the 89-year-old driver of a Hyundai Elantra backed into a pedestrian in the parking lot, pinning the pedestrian against an unoccupied, parked vehicle in the lot," the sheriff's office wrote. "Unfortunately, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries from the accident."

Authorities said the crash was still being investigated by members of the Traffic Safety Unit. The sheriff's office did not announce any charges in connection with the crash.
In the comments of the sheriff's Facebook post, community members remembred Hazel Cobb. "Hazel was a special lady and smiled and laughed all the time," one commenter wrote. "My heart goes out to her family, to Gail and all involved."
