FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Fredericksburg foodies looking for a thick slice of Chicago-style pizza are in luck. YMMAS East Side Deep Dish Pizza will officially open on Wednesday.

Operating out the side entrance of downtown mainstay Sammy T’s, the restaurant began taking pre-orders on Monday. Incidentally, the name is “Sammy” spelled backwards.

YMMAS is the brainchild of businessman Jeff Small, who told the Fredericksburg Free Press that he wanted to share his love of Chicago-style pizza with the Fredericksburg community.

“I was like we’ve got some really good bakers here, some really good chefs,” Small told the Free Press. “No one else is selling it. Let’s see if we can put this together.”

Here’s how YMMAS’ website describes the restaurant's signature dish:

“Deep Dish Pizza. Chicago Style. Stuffed Pizza. A literal pie filled with pizza. A seriously deep pizza crust, stuffed with your choice of sausage, pepperoni, or other tasty stuffings, and cheese. Loads of cheese. No stingy toppings here.”

But, all good things take time, so customers can expect to wait 36 minutes for their deep dish pizza to bake.

According to the menu, YMMAS’ pizzas come in three sizes — 7-inch, 11-inch and 14 inch. Customers can also order buffalo wings and choco chip cookies.

YMMAS is located at 801 Caroline St., in Fredericksburg. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 11:30 p.m., to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; and 11:30 pm. To 7 p.m. on Sunday.
