FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A water main break closed the southbound lanes of Richmond Highway near Groveton on Friday, causing significant traffic delays, according to Fairfax County police.
The closure is in effect at Richmond Highway and Popkins Lane while repair crews work to fix the damaged water main.
Police said the northbound lanes have reopened, but the southbound lanes remain closed for an extended period.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area, use alternate routes and expect delays.
Officials have not provided an estimated time for the roadway to fully reopen.
