100 Bowls of Soup Hosting Ribbon Cutting for New Herndon Kitchen

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12, from noon until 2 p.m. at 279 Sunset Park Drive.

Katharine Mardirosian started 100 Bowls of Soup from her home kitchen just a few years ago, and since then has watched her company blossom into a culinary staple of the D.C. area.

Mardirosian has already partnered with restaurants and markets in McLean, Vienna, Great Falls and more to spread her food and grow her brand, and she’s now taking her biggest leap yet: Opening a 100 Bowls of Soup kitchen in Herndon.

The new location, at 279 Sunset Park Drive, will serve as 100 Bowls of Soup’s primary food preparation hub, and will also include a retail store where customers can buy Mardirosian’s soups and gluten-free artisan breads straight from the source.

The idea behind opening the kitchen is to not only provide a central location to sample and purchase 100 Bowls of Soup’s full menu, but to add transparency to the brand. The Herndon location will feature an open kitchen that engages customers and lets them in on how their food is prepared and from where their ingredients derive.

“Our mission at 100 Bowls of Soup is simple — to help people eat well,” Mardirosian said in a recent news release. “Fresh, seasonal, locally sourced soup and stock made from scratch can be one of the most nourishing, satisfying and comforting meals one can eat. We are also delighted to share our kitchen with two other food entrepreneurs that share our mission — baker Deborah Joy of Deborah Joy’s Gluten Free and spice master, Deepa Patke of Aromatic Spice Blends.”
