16 Degrees In Herndon Thanksgiving Morning: Forecast

You are going to want to huddle up with the family on Turkey Day for sure.

HERNDON, VA -- This Thanksgiving is going to be cold -- really cold.

The Weather Channel predicts that temperatures will fall to 26 degrees Thursday morning in Herndon at 7 a.m. -- and with bone-chilling winds 10 miles per hour and above, it will feel like 16 degrees outside.

Things will improve somewhat as the day wears on, but not a whole lot.

"Temperatures should only lift into the lower to middle 30s for highs, with brisk breezes from the north helping to fuel a wind chill more like the 20s," writes the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang. "Thursday night should see winds pull back under mostly clear skies and cold conditions as lows drop into the low 20s potentially in the city and well into the teens in the outer suburbs. The record low of 14 at Washington Dulles International Airport is in jeopardy."

Early morning Black Friday shopping isn't the trend it used to be, but plenty still do it. And for those that are planning on it, they'll have to brave similarly cold temperatures, with temperatures around freezing.

Temperature relief is coming, with highs lifting into the mid-50s on Sunday and staying that way through early next week, but rain will dampen the mood a bit.
