2 Charged With Gang Participation, Aggravated Assault In Herndon

HERNDON, VA — Two local men were arrested and charged with gang participation and aggravated assault in connection with an attack on two victims Saturday on Elden Street, according to the weekly crime report.

The Herndon Police Department arrested Marian Jose Acuna Palma, 27, and Hesler Alexis Merida Rivas, both of Herndon, and charged them with aggravated assault, robbery, and gang participation in connection with the assault of two victims Saturday in the 1100 block of Elden Street. Police also charged Merida Rivas with possession of false documents and assault. The two victims were taken to Reston Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Acuna Palma and Merida Rivas were transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where they are being held without bond.

Between Aug. 31-Sept. 6, Town of Herndon police officers issued 74 traffic summons, including three for driving while intoxicated, 14 for driving with no operator's license, and one for driver on a suspended or revoked license.

There were three reportable traffic accidents in Herndon. Virginia State Police define "reportable crashes" as those that result in $1,500 in property damage and/or injury.
