2 Shot Dead Near Herndon

Police have reportedly arrested a man in connection with the shooting.

Two people were shot to death in a late-night cafe near the Town of Herndon boundary just northeast of Dulles Airport early Monday morning, and police have made an arrest.

Police were called to the 46000 block of Old Ox Road to a report of a shooting just before 2 a.m. and found that two victims had died, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Police later arrested 34-year-old Hassan M. Gailani of Alexandria, who faces two counts of first degree murder and one count of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The shooting happened at Pharaoh Cafe, a Turkish hookah lounge that is technically in Sterling but is right on the edge of Herndon just off Sterling Road.

First responders tried to save one of the victims at the scene, reported WUSA9's Mike Valerio. The suspect tried to leave the scene, but was intercepted in the parking lot by deputies, he said.

Valerio reported that Gailani knew both victims.
