In Spring 2015, the key to senior citizen independence arrived with Herndon Village Network (HVN). The local nonprofit now has over 50 vetted, volunteer drivers providing private transportation to over 100 community members needing a little extra help getting out and about. 3,500 rides later, the nonprofit continues to provide reliable transportation for doctor appointments, grocery shopping, and more!

“Our wonderful volunteers and I love serving our Herndon community members,” shared Penny Halpern, HVN Board President. “Although some of us are involved with planning fun senior events, we most enjoy giving senior citizens rides to some of their favorite places. We have made lifelong friendships, and we look forward to many more years of keeping our friends connected to the community.”

HVN is the local village nonprofit serving senior citizens. For a one-time $20 registration fee, seniors have access to unlimited, private transportation on weekdays and weekends, day and night. This independence makes visiting the doctor, going grocery shopping, visiting friends and family, etc. easier, and—with HVN’s friendly, vetted drivers—much more fun.
