4th Of July 2017 In Herndon: What's Open, What's Closed

Wondering what's going to be open on Independence Day this year? We've got you covered.

America's favorite patriotic holiday is almost here, and with the 4th of July falling in the middle of the work week, it can be a little confusing on exactly what's open and what's closed in Fairfax County during that time.

Parks and rec: In Fairfax County, Independence Day will be observed on Monday, July 3. All RECcenters, historic sites, nature centers, visitor centers and other public facilities throughout the county will be open on that day, except for the Green Springs Gardens Historic House.

Government offices: All government offices will be closed on July 4.

Fairfax County Connector: The Connector will run on a Sunday schedule on July 4.

Meanwhile, the Town of Herndon has released the following notice on what will be open and what will be closed on the 4th of July.

Town of Herndon government offices and services will be impacted by the Independence Day holiday as follows:

Town Offices

Tuesday, July 4, 2017 - Closed

Refuse Collection

Refuse will not be collected. Refuse normally collected on Tuesday will be collected on Monday, July 3.

Herndon Centennial Golf Course

Tuesday, July 4 – Open 6am – 6pm

Herndon Community Center

Tuesday, July 4 – Open 11am – 6pm

Special Event

4th of July Celebration and Fireworks at Bready Park, 814 Ferndale Avenue. Free. Festivities begin at 6:30pm and include children’s crafts, bingo, food vendors and family music. Fireworks at dark. For more information, visit www.herndon-va.gov/July4.
