Free Cupcakes, Music And Bouncy Slides Help Herndon Elementary Celebrate Its 60th Birthday
Herndon Elementary School is throwing a big birthday party on Sunday to celebrate its 60 years of educating the community's children.

HERNDON, VA — Herndon Elementary School is celebrating its 60th anniversary from 1-3 p.m., on Sunday, with a big party, featuring music, dancing, two bouncy slides and a bunch of family-friendly activities.
"The whole party is happening on the playground," PTA President Sara Murphy said. "There's going to be pizza for sale, a photo booth, and the Hershey's Ice Cream truck is coming."
At 2 p.m., the school will dedicate its new outdoor learning space designed by Mark Mosley, a Herndon Elementary resource teacher. The PTA will also present a $25,000 check to the school for an enclosed play space for students in the Headstart and Special Education programs. The money comes from the proceeds of the PTA's spring fundraiser and a grant from the Town of Herndon.
