A Conversation Unlike Any Other
Artists gather at Sunday's opening reception for "The Conversation of Art"
was buzzing with artists and art lovers alike at “The Conversation of Art” opening reception, on Sunday.
Nine artists from Building 10 at the Workhouse Art Center in Lorton, VA gathered to display their work ranging from the classical to the abstract.
“We find that all of our art work is very diverse between us. We’re all very different in our styles. That’s why bringing it together is so interesting” said Cheryl Parsons, a contemporary still life artist.
Mixing and matching appeared to have worked, as sculptures by one artist paired with a painting by another made the contrast of mediums stimulating for the viewer.
"As I was choosing the works for the exhibit, I began to think about how the pieces would work in relation to each other. It seemed to be a dialogue between some of the pieces that we started to notice, so this theme gradually appeared” said Alice Ross, curator of “The Conversation of Art” and edior of Elan Magazine.
Ross further explained that not only is this exhibit meant to create a dialogue about the varied art pieces, but also between those viewing them and their numerous interpretations.
“The Conversation of Art” exhibit will be on display at , 750 Center St., from June 7 to July 3.
