Amateur Radio Field Day
The Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club will hold its annual Field Day on 25-26 June at Park View High School.
Field Day is an annual amateur radio event to encourage emergency communications readiness by amateur radio operators. The Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club (SPARC) will set up an amateur radio station on the practice field at Park View High School. They will be open to the public from 2PM on Saturday, 25 June to 2 PM on Sunday, 26 June.
SPARC will operate four high frequency radios with an objective of contacting other amateur radio operators throughout the world but especially those in the United States and Canada. SPARC radio operators anticipate making hundreds of contacts over the weekend.
SPARC will have a Get-On-The-Air radio set aside for use by people who do not have an amateur radio license. Supervised by a licensed operator, anyone can try making a contact on amateur radio. SPARC especially would like school kids to participate.
