Amazon is Leasing Herndon Office Building: Report
One Dulles Tower, which has sat mostly vacant since 2015, is finally getting its big-name tenant.

HERNDON, VA — One of the largest companies in the world will be filling up a Herndon office building in the near future, according to a report.
The Washington Business Journal reports that Amazon Web Services has signed an agreement with Federal Capital Partners for 400,000 square feet of space at One Dulles Tower at 13200 Woodland Park Drive, which has been vacant since 2015.
Amazon Web Services is expanding its presence in the area, as it also leases space from another building across the Dulles Toll Road from the new building. It moved into that building in 2013, receiving $500,000 in state incentives in exchange for creating 500 jobs.

Federal Capital Partners purchased One Dulles Tower in October 2015 for $84 million. The company made the acquisition despite knowing that Booz Allen Hamilton, which had leased 100 percent of the building, would vacate it by the end of the year.
However, this provided FCP the "perfect opportunity to renovate and reposition the building," FCP Vice President Erik Weinberg said in the statement. "With the largest contiguous block of space on the Toll Road and upgraded amenities, lobby and common areas, One Dulles Tower will be highly competitive in the headquarters office building offerings in the Dulles Corridor."

It's the latest high-profile company to lease a large amount of office space in the Northern Virginia area. Earlier this year, Nestle announced that it would relocate its U.S. headquarters from California to Rosslyn in Arlington County.
