Federal prosecutors now say the Herndon suspect led police on a multi-state chase before being arrested back in town, and he faces serious federal carjacking and kidnapping charges while remaining presumed innocent.
• Kiss-and-ride congestion a growing safety concern at Fairfax County schools, report finds (ffxnow.com) — Families in Herndon should know that McNair Elementary's kiss-and-ride area has been flagged as a priority safety concern, with congestion, illegal U-turns, and risky crossings near nearby apartments. Fairfax County Public Schools are weighing changes like rerouting traffic, adding barriers, and improving signs as part of a broader push to make walking and drop-off safer at schools countywide.
