The WAVE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded by Harvetta Spann, a US Army Veteran and Stephanie Bolton James, to provide a forum for Veteran WOSB and help promote the success of Women Veteran Entrepreneurs. WAVE organizes quarterly events to help Veteran WOSB network and learn more about how they can grow their businesses, through partnering with large government contractors and the federal government. This year’s event will focus on providing proven strategies and tactics to leverage your business certification to narrow the competitive landscape to gain business.
Harvetta Spann is the President and CEO of BLS Group, Inc., an event and logistics planning company. She has extensive experience in providing operational and strategic project planning services to government, non-profit and commercial organizations. Harvetta, Co-Founder of WAVE, tells us in her own words, “After leaving military service, it is not easy to start a business of your own. We wanted to establish an organization that would help support Women Veterans as they launch their second careers. Creating The WAVE has given us a way to give back and help create valuable business development and networking opportunities for Veteran WOSB.
Stephanie Bolton James, also co-founder of WAVE, is the Director of Marketing at Ken Bolton and Associates, a Marketing and Event Management Company. Stephanie has more than 25 years of experience in hotel and event management and like Harvetta felt it was important to help other WOSB. As Stephanie states, “It is important to teach others what we have learned. We knew the importance of networking and meeting the right people for business growth. Through WAVE, we give Women Veteran Entrepreneurs opportunities to make the best connections and grow their businesses. We also use these events to teach business owners tips on proposal writing, and applying for government contracts. Our experienced and knowledgeable speakers give advice and tips for best practices when looking for and acquiring government work. It has been rewarding to give back and help other Women Veterans through the WAVE.”
