Armed Drunk Man Attacks Cop In Herndon: Police
Police say the man spit at the officer and hit him.

HERNDON, VA -- An intoxicated man armed with a gun was arrested after attacking an officer with his fists and spitting at him, police say.
Police were called to the intersection of Elm Tree Drive and Sycamore View Lane at around 4:15 p.m. March 22 to a report of an intoxicated man, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.
"An officer responding to the call attempted to speak with him," the report states. "As the officer spoke with the man, the officer noticed a firearm inside the man’s jacket. The man approached the officer, refusing the officer’s verbal commands. He hit the officer with his fist and spit at him."

Police arrested 37-year-old Carlos Cherry and charged him with assaulting a law enforcement officer, brandishing a firearm, and drunk in public.
