ArtsFairfax Awards Over $590K To 50 Nonprofit Arts And Culture Groups

FAIRFAX, VA — ArtsFairfax announced on Tuesday that it had awarded more than $590,000 in operating support grants to 50 nonprofit arts and culture groups in Fairfax County and in the cities of Fairfax and Falls Church.

As Fairfax County's local arts agency, ArtsFairfax distributed the operating grants to help the 50 recipient organizations continue to provide their programs, services and facilities for county residents to enjoy.

“ArtsFairfax received a record high number of Operating Support Grant applicants, in part because of our constant communication with grantees to understand their needs and make arts funding more accessible throughout the creative community," said Linda Sullivan, the president and CEO f ArtsFairfax.

• $591,786 awarded to 50 organizations
• 74% female leadership
• 44% small budgets under $100,000
• 28% BIPOC leadership
• 12% veteran leadership

For Fiscal Year 2024, ArtsFairfax lowered the minimum eligible budget for a grant applicant to $5,000, so that more organizations could apply. Small nonprofits were able to apply for 25 percent of their eligible operating expenses, as opposed to 15 percent in previous years. The maximum amount of grant money an organization was allowed to apply for was $60,000.
