ArtSpace Herndon’s Portrait Competition Winners Announced
ArtSpace Herndon – October 15, 2016 - The winners of ArtSpace Herndon’s 8th Annual Expressions Portrait Competition were announced during the Reception and Awards Ceremony on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Signe Friedrichs, Executive Director of Arts Herndon gave the opening remarks. Well-known local artist Tricia Cherrington Ratliff presented the awards.
Fithi Abraham won first place for Father (charcoal on wood), Lorena Selim won second place for Tori (oil on linen panel), and Samantha Hand won third place for Muse (oil). Honorable Mentions to Elizabeth Floyd for Butterfly Princess (oil), Penny Hauffe for Smile of Joy (mixed), Mark Eliot Lovett for Bouguereau Girl (oil), and Mary Reily for Wisdom and Strength (oil).
Competition judge and renowned artist Jordan Xu chose the winning portraits and local artist Tricia Cherrington Ratliff announced the winners to a crowd of over 75 guests, artists, and collectors. The portraits will be on display at ArtSpace Herndon’s Post Gallery through Friday, October 28, 2016.
The awards ceremony was held during Arts Herndon’s Herndon Arts Week 2016, a week-long event for children and families. See www.herndonarts.org for more information.
