Athlete of the Week: Alyssa Hughes Shuts Down TC Williams

Throughout the first half of Herndon's 2-0 win over TC Williams on Sept. 27, the Titans dominated possession of the ball. All that ensured the Titans remained scoreless was goalkeeper Alyssa Hughes.

Her staunch protection of the net kept her team in the game early on, and the offense finished it off with two second half goals.

The Titans had 14 corners compared with the Hornets' 3. They had pressure on Hughes all night, but she turned them away time and time again.

Hughes gave up just one goal in a loss to Centreville later in the week, and is Herndon Patch's Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3.
