Attic Fan Causes Saturday Morning House Fire

No injuries in blaze that displaced two people, says Fairfax County Fire Department.

An overheated attic fan caused a fire Saturday morning that damaged a Herndon-area home, according to the Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department.

There were no injuries in the blaze, which caused $17,000 in damage to the single-family house at 3021 Jeannie Anna Court, the fire department said. The occupants had smelled the smoke from the fire and escaped unharmed.

Fire and rescue units responded at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday to the fire; upon arrival, they encountered smoke and flames coming from the attic. The firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

The home’s two occupants have been displaced, the fire department said. Red Cross support was offered, but declined by the occupants.
