August Weather Forecast For Herndon: It's Bad News

It's the first day of the last full month of summer, and it may very well be the worst month of the year weather-wise.

HERNDON, VA -- A new August forecast for the Herndon area suggests that this coming month won't be a particularly pleasant one for us.

Expect a hot and steamy month ahead, predicts the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang. There is a silver lining to the forecast, in that there are no massive heat waves expected, but a wet and humid pattern that started last month is likely to carry on into August and stay here for a while.

Temperatures should be slightly above average for what is traditionally the second-hottest month of the year. The normal average temperature is around 78 degrees, and CWG is calling for an average this year of between 78 and 80 degrees for August.

We may also get higher than average rainfall, with CWG predicting five inches compared to an average of less than three inches.

All in all, we're probably going to see a lot of what we saw in the second half of July this month, which isn't really abnormal, but if you were hoping for some early relief as fall approaches you are going to be disappointed.
