Autumn Weather Coming To Herndon This Week?

HERNDON, VA -- It's not going to feel like the fall for the first part of this week in Herndon, but we may get a taste of autumn weather before it's all said and done.

Just like Labor Day, it's going to be absolutely scorching to start off the week. Highs are going to hit the mid 90s on Tuesday with the heat indexes once again soaring into the 100s, according to the National Weather Service forecast for our area.

Wednesday and Thursday will be pretty much the same story. On all three days, it will be mostly sunny but there will be a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms, with Thursday having the greatest chance.

On Friday, things take a sudden turn. Highs suddenly dive into the mid 80s. Once again, there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

And then, the weekend brings us glorious weather, and perhaps a taste of fall. Highs top out in the high 70s.

It could be wet though, with precipitation chances at 60 percent.
