Beginning Botanical Painting at Artspace Herndon

My name is Kelly McLeod and I am a local artist who will be teaching a beginning botanical painting class at artspace herndon. I have recently moved back home after graduating with my masters, and this will be my very first class, so please help me spread the word!! All skill levels welcome!! Beginning Botanical Painting with Kelly McLeod

Location: Artspace Herndon

Time: Saturday Mornings 10:30AM-12:30PM (2 hours)

Duration: March 19 - April 30 (6 Classes) Note: class does not meet April 2

Skill level: Beginner to Intermediate

Age: Adult, Advanced Teens

"Bring in the spring with this fun class that will give you a closer look at the beautiful blooms in your garden or local flower shop. Botanical painting combines art and science to make fabulous visual studies that capture a plant’s unique characteristics. In this course, students will work at their own pace while learning to use traditional techniques in drawing and watercolor to beautifully illustrate nature’s details. Lessons will include some basic botany, as well as a look at the work of historical and contemporary botanical artists to study the themes and compositions that make a painting successful. Demonstrations of drawing, color mixing, creating texture, and more will be provided, as well as one to one guidance to develop unique needs for any skill level. Basic art supplies will be provided, with a list of recommended materials for those who wish to expand their toolkit!"
