Decisions, Decisions

Like any 'large family,' we won't agree on everything.

May First is the date; Tuesday is the day. Herndon Community Center is the place. Six a.m. to 7 p.m. is the time. For what? YOUR DECISIONS as to who will serve as Herndon’s mayor and council for the next two years.

I’m still trying to reach you door to door; I’m sure I won’t get to every door and not all of you will be home behind the doors I do reach. Not reaching you should NOT, however, be interpreted as me not caring. At least try to visit my website www.billtirrellformayor.com. If I haven’t chatted with you and you have a question, please use the website to reach me.

I care about Herndon and its residents and businesses; its future, its present, and its heritage. Very much!

My objectives include managed growth, carefully done. I want to bring careful consideration and public vetting of major actions. Containing costs and focusing on needs and not wants MUST BE our guide. My record on eight councils—from 1990 to date—serves to validate what I’ve said.

Various candidates, partisans for (and against) the candidates, and every once in a while ‘just plain folks’ have blogged and commented and engaged in heated debate. That form of communication is almost over.

While I hope I have earned your support with my years of leading and helping the Town accomplish goals, we will always have some different viewpoints on some issues. As your mayor, I WILL lead and try to provide an environment in which ideas are welcome and in which citizens can easily access information and be part of the process. Like any "large family," we won’t agree on everything.

So—on Tuesday, May 1st, PLEASE take the time to vote for a mayor (I hope it’s me!) and up to six members of council! Thanks for taking YOUR time to be part of the process.
