Herndon Girl Scouts explore on the Potomac Woods RiverWalk
Troop 4111 visit GSCNC's Camp Potomac Woods
Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low loved taking her troop outdoors 100 years ago, and today's Girl Scout leaders are no different. In the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital, girls have the opportunity to explore nature at eight camps throughout Northern Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
Troop 4111 of Herndon, composed of Daisies and Brownies, recently visited Camp Potomac Woods in western Loudoun County and enjoyed the Potomac Woods RiverWalk. The environmental learning trail and patch program is designed to educate girls on the importance of preserving and managing natural resources while inspiring them to spend time outdoors.
"The girls had a blast and want to go back to spend more time on just a few of the activities, especially the bird listening. They loved climbing into Pooh Tree for a group shot," troop co-leader Carol Watson said.
