Journalist, historian, and author Marc Leepson will give a talk on his book, Saving Monticello, a history of Thomas Jefferson's house that focuses on what happened after Jefferson died. This is a little-known, fascinating tale of historic preservation that concentrates on the Levy family—U.S. Navy Commodore Uriah P. Levy and his nephew, the Congressman Jefferson M. Levy—who owned the house for 89 years and saved it from ruin on two different occasions. Mr. Leepson will have copies of that book and three of his other books on hand for purchase.
