We've All Got a Lot of Stuff. And more...
Finding surprises when you're DeCluttering and organizing a basement.
So, I’m decluttering, organizing and helping sort through a clients basement. I believe this was a 70-hour project.
They had grade school, high school and college yearbooks, memories, pictures and clothes. Plus 17 years worth of married-life and eight years of their child’s stuff down there. We had to throw out at least a dozen boxes that had been living quarters for more than a few rodent families through the years. I loaded and unloaded my packed van nine to 12 times with donation items to local non-profits, shelters and libraries.
We were making great progress, until I moved a big container full of...stuff. And there it was. A cute little, smashed, stuck-to-the-concrete-floor, not-gonna-budge, fuzzy mouse. I calmly and slowly went up to tell my client and ask him to please remove it so I could finish working. He kindly (and apologetically) did so and I got back to work.
