Breakfast Event Helped Raise More than $100K for Connections for Hope

Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10) hosted a breakfast at Connections for Hope in October that led to more than $100,000 in donations to the organization.


In October, Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10) hosted a breakfast that raised more than $100,000 for Connections for Hope, a Herndon-area organization that offers service to families in need.

Members of the local business community, elected officials and many others attended the breakfast and toured Connections for Hope. During the breakfast a $50,000 donation was made and a challenge was issued to raise a matching amount by the end of 2011. The match amount was exceeded by $5,000.

Connections for Hope is comprised of a number of area organizations that work together to help those in need, including the Jeanie Schmidt Free Clinic, the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board, Just Neighbors, Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, Reston Interfaith, Vecinos Unidos/Neighbors United and Helping Children Worldwide.

Services include health care, mental health care, training to help people search for, find and prepare for jobs, foreclosure prevention, after-school homework assistance and more. Connections for Hope was founded by a group of individuals from Floris United Methodist Church.
