Though Republican Frank Wolf swept the race overall, five of Herndon's 12 precincts voted for Democratic candidate Jeffery Barnett. William Redpath, Libertarian candidate, took between 0.5-3 percent of the vote depending on precinct. Four of the precincts visited by Herndon Patch said turnout in the area was higher than usual, at between 25-30 percent of registered voters.
