Car Suddenly Vanishes On Elden Street In Herndon: Police

Police later arrested a suspect after the victim unwisely left his vehicle running.

HERNDON, VA -- If you plan on ducking into a store for just a few seconds, turn your car off anyway and take the keys. A man in Herndon learned that lesson the hard way the other day.

The man left his vehicle running "while he briefly entered a business" in the 1000 block of Elden Street on Dec. 12, according to a report from the Herndon Police Department. The report doesn't say what business he entered, but there is a shopping center at that location with some prime candidates for quick stops, like Starbucks and CVS.

"When he exited the building the victim reported that his car was gone," the report states.
