Carjacking, Malicious Wounding Charges Filed Against Herndon Man

HERNDON, VA — Town of Herndon Police arrested 19-year-old Alexis Antonio Ruiz of Herndon in connection with a July 23 carjacking, according to the weekly crime report.

After multiple members of the public reported hearing a gunshot around 9 a.m., on July 23, officers responded to the 500 block of Fairfax Lane, according to the report.

The victim told arriving officers that Ruiz had pulled out a handgun, assaulted him and then fired the gun. He then drove away in the victim's car, according to police.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police, who later recovered the stolen car.

Police arrested Ruiz and charged him with carjacking, abduction, malicious wounding, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
