Comfort Keepers Senior Spelling Bee Spell-Off Coming to Falcon's Landing

Senior Spelling Bee

The 5th Annual Comfort Keepers Senior Spell-Off is coming to Falcon’s Landing this September. Seniors from senior centers, senior living communities and nursing homes all over Fairfax and Loudoun Counties will be participating in the event again this year. Last year 15 senior communities including Tall Oaks, Sunrise at Countryside, Spring Arbor, The Carter Center, Sommerset, Heritage Hall and Falcon’s Landing, participated in the event and over 200 seniors came to watch the event.

“Everyone gets super excited about this event” says event founder and coordinator Toni Reinhart. “Teams even dress up and have cheer leaders”.

Starting in June, participants train for the spelling bee and hold preliminaries to find the best spellers in their community. Sample words are distributed to the centers that have enrolled. The winners will arrive with their cheering sections to “spell-off” against their rivals and determine the best speller. This year’s spell-off will be a fund raising event for Honor Flight Network. Honor Flight Network is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices (for more information https://www.honorflight.org). Trophies and prizes are awarded to the winners and there are raffles and door prizes for the spectators.
